This is very last minute, because, well, our current Kickstarter for BattleTech—much less the usual crazy of preparing releases and other elements for Gen Con—has been all-consuming the last few months. However, just as we did at Origins, we’re sneaking in a big “stealth Leviathans” game this year.
This will be a single event, of four concurrent games. What’s more, it’s really an opportunity to playtest numerous new factions—Germans, Italians, Austro-Hungarians, Japanese, Americans, and Russians—some new rules—aerial torpedoes in particular—and really just show-off our love of this great game. All while interacting with some of those that helped us reach this stage. (See the attached photo for our table where we’re preparing final game assets to start packing up and get on a plane tomorrow).
If any of the above sounds interesting, and you’re already attending Gen Con, it will run Friday night from 8PM to midnight. Just find us at the Catalyst Minis HQ. Note this is a ticketed event, and there will be limited room. But we will take as many as we can. And of course, even if you can only just stop on by and say hi, we’d love to see you.
Hope to see some of you there!

So happy to hear this is (eventually) coming back. I wanted the full rules and all the ship cards for all the nations for so long.
Will the giant display ships be making an appearance? That would help get the word out.
These guys? http://www.scrapyardarmory.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/GenCon2011-007.jpg
OMG…if I had only known I would have been there. I absolutely love this game.
This is awesome! Can’t wait to see more – I’ve still got my old core sets, will the minis be the same scale?
Super excited to see the new factions – and can finally see how well the crew quirk cards will work with the new factions!
I have a couple questions though – is this a new edition? Will the old sets be compatible? Can you somehow speed up time to make it so I get this quicker?
The Austro-hungarian empire dealt a crushing blow to the French forces. We took down a type 3 armored cruiser, a type 2 cruiser, and a type 1 destroyer in return for 2 of our destroyers.
There was much ramming, including one of the AH type 2s slamming into the bow of a type 1 and splitting it in half.
Good to see the activity on the website and the blog. As a big-time Leviathan fan, I can’t wait to learn what’s changing, what’s going to remain compatible, and what we can look forward to. Leviathans hit every sweet spot I look for in a game. Beautiful minis, elegant rules (with nearly every variable baked into the ingenious colored dice rolls) tons of fluff, and—although a steampunk game—a wonderful evocation of historical steam naval warfare during the years preceding WWI. (Simple rules for destroyer screening—now that’s quite a nod to history.) And, while it’s not hard to teach new players, every turn presents decisions that matter. I bought in early and I bought in big. Leviathans remains my favorite game to this day.
very nice thank you
I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one nowadays..
